censusWith unemployment concerns persisting around the country, the 2010 Census and its need for temporary workers is certainly welcome.  There will be eight local offices throughout the state of Wisconsin.  One of those will be here in Madison and there’s expected to be a thousand plus positions available.  If you can believe it, there will be hundreds of thousands of temporary workers needed across the United States.

The  jobs with the 2010 Census include: office clerks at approximately $9.00 an hour, census takers at $13.00 an hour, assistant crew leaders at $13.00 an hour and group supervisors at approximately $14.50 an hour. If you are in the field, this also comes with mileage reimbursement.

During the 2000 Census I had the opportunity to work as an office clerk.  It pays less than the Census taker position but it allowed me to be indoors, a big priority for me.  I entered payroll information and when that was done I overlapped by entering hiring application data into the computer, as well.  I worked it around my full-time job.  It was a great way to earn extra income.

There is a 2010 Census Web site where you can get more detail.  Specifically the Madison field office number is (608) 327-5620 .  Most of the hiring will be done in the spring, but applications are being taken now.

If you are looking for full or part-time work in the Madison area there are employment and recruiting companies to help you.
