bratSummer is almost here.  We can almost smell it in the air.  When I say it I am talking about the smell of brats.  Once we catch the smell of brats cooking on the Big Taste Grill (at the annual Brat Fest), it signals the start of summer for those of us living in or around the Madison, Wisconsin area.

Johnsonville is again sponsoring the annual World’s Largest Brat Fest.  Here are the vital statistics you’ll need to volunteer or participate:

When: Memorial Day weekend, May 22 through 25, 2009

The hours: 10 AM to 9PM on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

10 AM to 6 PM on Monday

Where: Willow Island at the Alliant Energy Center at 1919 Alliant Energy Center Way,

                                     Madison, Wisconsin

In 2008, over this same weekend, a record was set for selling the most brats, 191,712 (self proclaimed or not) in a single event.  Help set a new World Record with this year’s goal of selling 200,000!!

Besides being able to eat the world’s best tasting brat, look at all the other activities available to you and your family:

  • Two entertainment stages
  • Over 50 musical acts playing over 80 hours of free music (featuring tons of local musicians
  • Kid’s rides
  • And don’t forget Take Your Brat to Work Day on Willow Island, Friday the 22nd from 6-9 AM

Last year over $100,000 was raised for local non-profits.  Again, this year over 95 local charities and groups will benefit from this years event.

There’s free parking.  The event goes off rain or shine.  For more information click here.
