madison-post-officeGet ready to pay more to mail something today.  At the Madison post office, starting today, postage stamps will cost us 2 more pennies.  It goes up to 44 cents today.  The Forever stamps purchased before today are still going to work with no additional charge.  The last time they raised the price I added additional postage to my Forever stamps before someone told me I didn’t have to.  I guess the “Forever” part should have given me a clue but somehow I didn’t really believe that there was going to be a perk for buying my stamps ahead of time.  I was wrong on that point.

I thought I would pass that information along for some of the people that are in the dark about the stamps like I have to admit I am sometimes until the change actually happens.

My real reason for writing was that I was annoyed this morning when I tried to send something through the post office overnight to somewhere a couple states away.  I’m still not sure I even understand what the guy was saying because I thought we could overnight something anywhere in the country as long as we wanted to pay for it and got it going early enough in the day.  Not so apparently.  I headed down the road to UPS who took care of the problem for me.  Miraculously, somehow they could get it to my destination the next day.

I found a lot of different companies that offer this service on the Internet that I didn’t even know existed.  I went to a familiar name because I knew where they were located but will check out the others in the future and compare costs.

If for any reason you are looking for alternative companies to send things through, go see the site at www.directoryofmadison.com.
